(Palmer House Hilton, Chicago, IL) Pete Jacobs and yours truly spent a delightful Sunday at Soxfest 2013 and particularly enjoyed hearing Tony LaRussa and company recall in colorful detail the glorious season of 1983 when the Sox came ever so close. We were also happy to hear Robin Ventura and his team of able coaches look confidently ahead to season 2013, and one of us purchased a framed photographed of second baseman Nellie Fox tossing the ball to shortstop Luis Aparicio. It will go well with his prized 1959 American League Champs pennant. Then, a passing fan gladly took our picture with Sox mascot Southpaw, and we repaired to Millers on Wabash for a hearty dinner in warm, sporty environs while the ice storm began in earnest outside. It was such a grand day that we bought a pair of tickets for Opening Day on Monday, April 1 when the Sox face the Kansas City Royals at 3:10 p.m. We hope to see you there, and you can be there by calling: 312-674-1000 or visiting: whitesox.com.

You and Pete look like you are ready for the season. Me too. The NBA and NFL are boring. I enjoy watching the ND girls BB team. They are on ESPN2 tonite. Can’t wait for Tiger spring training to start. Best of luck to the Sox. See you soon.
Gary, I’m looking at the Sox schedule and seeing that the Sox play the Tigers in Detroit July 9-11, with the 11th a day game. Any interest in a road trip on July 11 to Comerica?
