Model Behavior

IMG_9223(Harbert, Michigan) The red flag was flying; the currents were a rippin’, and the wind was dashing waves against the shore, so there were few willing subjects to model for your friendly neighborhood photographer.  A Turkey Vulture kited overhead and then disappeared behind the trees before he could focus on the airborne scavenger.  And then, just as he was ready to call it a morning, a Ring-billed Gull appeared and agreed to do a spot of modeling before struttin’ on down the beach.  Here’s the shoot:

Let's see you stand on one leg and groom yourself with the other.

Let’s see you stand on one leg and groom yourself with the other.

A gull's gotta do what a gull's gotta do to survive in this cold, cruel world.

A gull’s gotta do what a gull’s gotta do to survive in this cold, cruel world.

Hey, you lookin' at me?

Hey, you lookin’ at me?

One last shot and then I'm outta here.

One last shot, and then I’m outta here.

  1. Thank you Charley! Love that last shot. If I were a more talented watercolorist……I may just try it anyway, with your permission?
