Three Years Ago

(Chicago, Illinois) Three years ago, on July 3, 2013, my mother, Hannah Dick Macfarlan McKelvy, graciously consented to record her thoughts for posterity in an interview in the StoryCorps studio at the Cultural Center in Chicago.  Mom, as you may know, departed this life on June 4, 2014, so her words were an especially precious gift.  I present them here now with gratitude for my magnificent mother:

Bill Jacobs captured the moment as Mom told all to Charley and Missy and the Library of Congress on July 3, 2013.

Bill Steinbach captured the moment as Mom told all to Charley and Missy and the Library of Congress on July 3, 2013.

It’s wonderful listening to your mom’s voice – reminds me I need to call mine. Have a wonderful weekend and fabulous fourth. Peace.
