Pileated Woodpecker

(Harbert, Michigan) We had our own 4th of July fireworks on Dune Road this afternoon with the appearance of a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers.  This is the male.  Uncommon but widespread, they relish a serving of carpenter ants.
