I have been dismayed to hear my well-educated friends parroting the inflamed rhetoric about Russia, Russians, and Russian leadership that we heard from Hillary Clinton during the election and are now hearing from the military industrial complex, the so-called intelligence community, and the beltway media.  Russia is not the enemy. Russia is not out to get us.  We have more in common with Russia and the Russians than we realize.  I have been to Russia.  I toured their amazing country from Moscow to Saint Petersburg, and I have spent hours in conversation with Russians about Russia and the United States. So I have come to believe that we have more in common than hockey and chess.  We just need to mutually respect one another and talk to one another as equals.  The Russians do not wish to colonize us or bury us.  Nor should we wish to colonize them or bury them.  Let’s tone down the anti-Russian rhetoric and treat them with the mutual respect they deserve.  Spasiba.
