Galien River County Park

(New Buffalo, Michigan) What a gem we have in Galien River County Park, with its upland trails along a wooded bluff, an exciting skywalk, and a boardwalk out over the marsh where the Sora and Common Gallinule come out to play. We were there today with the Berrien Birding Club and were fortunate to spot both of the aforementioned rails along with a busy Belted Kingfisher, flashy Blue-winged Teal, and a Palm Warbler and American Redstart.  All those and more, plus the mighty Galien itself, which informs this relatively new jewel in the crown of Berrien County parks.   There is no entry fee, and  Galien River County Park is located on Red Arrow Highway, just north of the junction with U.S. Hwy. 12 and across from the New Buffalo Township Hall.  For more information, please visit: http://www.berriencounty.org/parks.

One of the best birding spots in all of Berrien County.

A runner runs to where the river runs through it.
