Decoration Day

My mother, Hannah Dick Macfarlan McKelvy, would have been 96 today had she not departed this mortal coil on June 3, 2014. I am shown here following her death playing Auld Lang Syne for her grandparents, Malcolm and Hannah Macfarlan. Malcolm Macfarlan served the United States forces as Assistant Surgeon under Steele’s command at the end of the Civil War and was the sole quarantine doctor at the entrance to Mobile Bay. So this Decoration Day is for you, Great-grandfather Macfarlan, good doctor that you were.
