Abroad in Beauty Land

(Berrien County, Michigan) Upon visiting our sylvan section of southwest Michigan years ago, our friend Ed Hamilton declared: “You live in Beauty Land.”  Ed was right then, and Ed is right, right now, whenever we visit him at his Century Pens emporium in downtown Chicago. For Ed always greets us by asking: “How is everything in Beauty Land?”  All is well, Ed, all is well, and Beauty Land is as beautiful as ever.  And for proof, I offer these photographs from some of our recent bike tours of our beautiful backroads in Beauty Land:

Looking southeast from Hanover and Mill in New Troy.

Looking north across Harbert Road from the Harbert Preserve.

Crossing the CSX tracks on Flynn Road in Sawyer.

Another view from Hanover and Mill.

A cloudy light show over Prairie Road in Harbert.

Can’t very well leave lovely Lake Michigan out of the mix. This was the soothing sight that saluted us Sunday when we pulled up at the Lakeside Overlook.
